I used to visit a lot of the arcades around Fort Wayne back when arcades were popular. Spent a lot of time at Aladdin's Castle in Southtown Mall. (No longer standing...)

Eventually got away from it, but my friends and I would play some of the arcade games in the break room at college. There was one in particular that we really liked, and got good enough to make it all the way through the game: Solar Warrior. Years later, I tracked down that very cabinet and bought it off of the vendor. It had problems with sound, so I started tracing out the board and fixed the audio circuit.

The circuit I drew out grew until I had drawn out both boards. (I was never able to find the official schematics until this past month!) Emulation was big at that time, so I thought I'd see what I could do. I got in touch with some other people that wanted to emulate the game, and we worked together on what eventually became the MAME driver for Solar Warrior, Xain'D Sleena, Renegade, Double Dragon, and Kunio Kun.

Over the past few years, I've gotten back into electronics. Building kits at first, but slowly getting around to trying my hand at repairs. I've been working on a variety of equipment. About a month ago or so, I ran across a copy of Xain'D Sleena on eBay that was being sold as-is, not working... Before long, I'd picked up three sets and have been working on repairing them.
