Hello from Singapore - MiSTer user looking for a first candy cab

Hi everyone,

I’m based in Singapore and looking into getting my first candy cab.

I grew up mostly playing horizontal games and these days mainly use a MiSTer on a CRT. I’ve been exploring some vertical games too, using the MiSTer settings to fit them onto my horizontal screen, but I’m not happy with how squeezed they look. Seeing them on a proper vertical CRT has got me interested in a dedicated setup.

I’m leaning towards an Astro City or New Astro City, ideally fairly original with a good monitor. Still learning what to look out for, and the discussions here have been really useful.

Would be great to hear from anyone running MiSTer in a candy cab, or anyone around Singapore who’s bought or imported one. Anything you wish you’d known before getting your first?

I've got two Mistercades I run in Aero Cities, one vertical and one horizontal. There really isn't too much different about it than running any other Jamma board.

You still might have to adjust the monitor for each core, since they have different sync rates and video outputs. Some cores have video adjustment options to stretch and center the picture that help but not all of em.

Thanks, that’s reassuring. Good to know the monitor needs a tweak between cores. I’m going for a New Astro with an MS9 and planning to leave it vertical for shmups. Still gathering the parts, but looking forward to getting it set up.
