Hi all -- I'm a classic gamer from Seattle and have mostly been into console and PC gaming. I always dreamed of building an arcade cabinet, and so last year built (via a flat pack kit) a bartop arcade. I loved the build (and the gaming), but always longed for a larger, more "arcade" cabinet. Back in the 90s, when I was young and dumb, I actually bought a Japanese candy cab (sit-at) cabinet that I used for a VF3 board and an SNK 4 slot (with some Neo Geo favorites). It was in rough shape, and I didn't know what I had, and ended up selling it. Now that I'm older, have my own home, I've finally decided to do it right and get a proper sit-at cabinet. I've always loved the Taito Vewlix series, so I'm taking the dive and am going pick up a used Vewlix L and plan to make any restorations/upgrades possible, eventually connecting a PC. I've learned a lot from the arcade controls forum, and hope to learn a lot from the members here. Just lurking around, I've learned a ton and am super excited to get started.

Wecome! I, myself, just joined not too long ago and this site is the place to be, especially for Vewlix Cabinets. If it wasn't for the helpful and positive people on this site, I wouldn't have one myself. :)

Welcome! This is the best club around.

Some questions for Vewlix owners that may be reading this.

How is vewlix with old games? The cabs are so beautiful, but I really don't play any modern fighters. Believe me, I tried!

Anyway, I do like CRTs, but I'm not opposed to modern displays (I rocked my supergun on a XRGB Mini going to a 60" Bravia for over a year and was pretty content). Does anybody have experience running old JAMMA games on a vewlix?

that is a question for Jassin.. He likes playing on the vewlix..

What I have seen - L and FC monitors, 720p picture is less than desirable.. With the 1080p monitors and the OSSC and scanlines things are Ok, comparable with what you will see with Mame and LCD picture wise.. Maybe in five years we get OLED monitors on the Vewlix and problem solved..

I guess it depends what you're playing. For me, I'm not rocking any arcade hardware -- just a PS3 hooked up to the Vewlix. PS3 games look fantastic (SF, VF, DOA, etc...), and Libretro plays Neo Geo and other arcade games nicely. I think they look great on the monitor, but maybe I'm not picky. :)
