Opened up an arcade I got from captains a while back. Picture has some moving lines in it, playable but it bothers me. Was going to order a cap kit but didn’t notice any markings.

Looks like some "universal" chassis. I wouldn't trust a cap kit even if there was one.

Moving lines sounds like a grounding issue, not necessarily related to the chassis.

I always thought it was bs but I was actually able to cure some noise using ferrules on either end of the video (r, g, b, gnd, sync) lines. It was a horizontal band of vertically upwards scrolling noise.

I have had plenty of other kinds of noise and interference issues in the past. Most have come from tying the monitor ground to earth ground. This is resolvable by tying digital ground to earth ground (not always a good idea) or leaving the monitor floating (also not always a good idea). There's some threads about it on here.

Very much could be a grounding issue, I’m debating about getting a different chassis for this anyways but for now, I’ll try to track down the ground issue.

Well small world: I offered ( it's nice to be nice?) to fix 3 screens / chassis for the guy who bought my space lords (yes I sold a game! wild!).
one was missing RED and it was a broken solder joint, easy and done.

The 2 others come with the chinese/Wei Ya universal HL-2529 chassis. It appears to be the same design as the one above, even cheaper I would say. No degauss, no heat sink on that giant resistor.

now I was able to get an "ok" fixed image, even if not centered, but when I get out fo test mode and the game plays, it is wobbly and not usable... boy is it bad ! I'll add a video later

Also this resistor gets TOASTY HOT

I'll see if pcbjunkie recommendations do any good

and a honest great review from Mike

The 27 inch tube appears to be DEAD. no glow no nothing. I tried 4 chassis.

Dang, bridging the wire to the other ground on the power supply took a lot of the noise pattern out of the picture, but didnt completely get rid of it for me.

I have already bought several and tested them on several CRTs.
They work well on models A66 - 28" and A59 - 25".
On the 28" CRT, I have a shift on the upper vertical side, but I will replace the IC 7840 with 7841 and test it.
I cannot get the maximum amplitude on the horizontal and I know it is a change in the capacitor, but I do not know which one.
Can anyone help?
