Hi everyone,

Now that HighScoreSaves has a dedicated section on Arcade-Projects, I wanted to create a permanent thread for our Free Play and High Score Save Kits.

HighScoreSaves has been designing and supporting upgrade kits for original classic arcade PCBs since 2015. We have developed 124 kits covering games from Atari, Bally Midway, Capcom, Centuri, Data East, Exidy, Gottlieb, Konami, Namco, Nintendo, Sega, Stern, Taito, Williams, and other classic manufacturers.

These are not replacement or emulation boards. Our kits work with compatible original arcade PCBs and preserve the original game hardware, controls, sound, timing, and gameplay.

Features vary by game and kit, but may include:

  • Battery-free high score and initials saving
  • Free Play while retaining normal coin operation
  • Attract-mode sound
  • On-screen settings and diagnostics
  • Screen-flip and cabinet-orientation options
  • ROM Saver
  • Multigame, Remix, and rearranged-game options
  • Optional 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi score uploading on supported kits
Most HighScoreSaves single-game kits install at the original CPU socket. The original processor is removed from the PCB, installed on the kit, and the kit is installed in the original CPU location. When the CPU is already socketed, installation normally does not require soldering. Some multigame and specialty kits have different requirements, so the product page and installation guide for the exact kit should always be reviewed first.

We will use this thread for:

  • New HighScoreSaves kit announcements
  • Product and feature updates
  • Inventory and restock information
  • PCB and kit compatibility questions
  • Installation questions
  • HighScoreSaves customer-support updates
  • Suggestions for future supported games

Compatibility is game- and PCB-specific. If you are unsure which kit fits your hardware, feel free to post clear photos of the complete PCB, CPU area, ROM labels, board numbers, and any existing modifications or repairs.

We also welcome suggestions for games that do not currently have a HighScoreSaves kit. We cannot promise that every game will be possible, but community interest is always useful when considering future projects.

I’ve already bought a few of the kits (Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Bubble Bobble, Hyper Sports, etc.) and have always been very satisfied. The Wi-Fi option was a good upgrade, as my machines aren’t all in the same room.
