Hey guys, anyone have the bin file or know how to play HOTD2 with red blood instead of green?I used a bios file CRC32 16b4e74d, hod2-rb.bin. Unfortunatley it doesnt work.
I erased the bios and re flashed it with both epr-21330 and epr-21331. They both worked great and i flashed them excactly the same as I did the blood mod one so that rules out any problem with the chip or the way im flashing it.

Cheers folks!

you should use US BIOS (EPR-21330) and then change blood color in game options. when running with Japan (epr-21329) or Export (epr-21331) BIOSes game will work in censored mode only.
there is no need to do any "mods", no idea wtf is "hod2-rb.bin" you mentioned.

Hi,
I did try that file but the options were missing? Maybe I got the wrong file. If you could provide the right file for me to use or checksum then I'll try again. Is there anything I have to change on the Naomi itself or just the ic27? New to this hardware so not sure about jumper settings, dipswitches etc.
Cheers

are you sure you was cared enough to check game settings/options ?
NAOMI TEST MODE -> GAME TEST MODE -> GAME ASSIGNMENTS -> BLOOD COLOR

google for MAME romset, hod2bios.zip from it
epr-21330.ic27 CRC 9e3bfa1b SHA1 b539d38c767b0551b8e7956c1ff795de8bbe2fbc

nothing else, just IC27 BOOT ROM

I'm going to bump this thread but I was having a similar issue with my House of the Dead 2 Naomi cage.

Before I get started, I'll go ahead and throw in an unofficial Special Service Bulletin for HOD2 Owners with same issue.

Because my board was from Europe it did come with green blood only, but when I erased the IC27 on the motherboard to use the US 21330 BIOS, the board was saving every setting but the red blood, which reverted back to green whenever I power cycled the game again. Initially I thought the board had a faulty SRAM, so I disassembled the stack to check for any bad traces, and they all looked good. As a special precaution I removed the supercap off the board as I hear they are notorious for leaking.

Turns out the red blood reverting to green was only a bug in the epr-21385 ROM, so I burned the "new version" (epr-21585.ic27) to the Naomi mobo, and now my red blood is saved every time I power cycle the game.

So non-US owners of HOD2, if you want red blood, burn IC27 with epr-21330 and IC22 on the cart with epr-21585 as that seems to correspond with the US version. Do NOT use with hotd2o ROM (epr-21385)
