Happy Sunday!

I just got a dealio worked out with KC and I have an initial d ver 3 coming soon. It occured to me later that the version he sold me came out of an arcade in Japan so it will have a Japanese copy of the game installed. This isn't a big issue but ideally I'd like to have the story mode and such in English. So after searching it looks like I will need to get an english copy of the dvd that goes in the gd rom and the corresponding security chip. (Is this right)? Any idea where I should buy this from? Also would I need to change the bios or anything else? Will the test menu be in Japanese? I assume yes but figure it is worth asking hahaha. Also will the english cards work with the Japanese version of the game? I'd assume so but it would be good to conform.

Sorry to ask so many questions in a single post. I'm sure it will be fine even if I have to keep it in japanese.

I know netbooting is also an option but I was hoping to get into that further down the line. Thanks a ton for any help! 8)

Yup you will need the English gdrom and key chip if you go official route. Not sure if it has compatibility issues with jpn bios as I have never tried. I think there is a wiki for this somewhere for bios compatibility.

Net booting I think is the way to go (cheaper too). This way you won't have to deal with discs and save your gdrom drive from crapping out.

interesting. For some reason I thought that was more expensive (Netbooting). Dumb question does a kit exist for this. I've poked through the article on this but I don't see a kit per se.

Thanks a ton @SuperScore29 - I agree though :) best to wait and see what shows up. Question, when looking for a kit for netbooting it is like $500 on ebay. Is this the normal price? The multibios is a good idea as well. Ty!

I picked up an Initial D Ver. 3 USA twin cabinet a little over a year ago. If the Naomi 2 boards inside each side are like mine they will have the Net DIMM and all you will need is the zero key and a crossover cable or router.

Once you have the different region's ROMs loaded you will need to make separate cards for each region, but the blank cards and readers will work for all regions and versions (1-3)
