IGS PGM English Patch Index

Nevermind, user error. No wonder it doesn't work when you replace the wrong chip! D'oh!

It works great. Thank you, @iq_132!

Question for Demon Front:

What are the differences between the cart and stand alone PCB versions? The cart seems to command a much higher price in comparison, especially now when you consider that you can language patch the PCB version.

Good to know. I briefly searched online and wasn't able to figure it out. I know that SvG carts tend to be more desirable vs PCB due to gameplay/balance differences and wasn't sure if the same thing applied to Demon Front. I guess it would matter a bit less since it isn't a competitive fighting game unless the differences were severe.

There are no gameplay differences with the Cart vs single board on Demon Front, and for what its worth I could never point out anything that differed from 105 to 107 other than that the 107 was for Korean markets only. So if your in the market and collectibility or whatever isnt a big deal go for the single board and patch it.

Yeah i did the attract mode and level 1 only.

That took several weeks by eye and not great. I think there's over 20k lines to change...

A good "tech demo" to prove that cracking it is possible.

If anyone wants to check it out let me know, but don't get excited because i won't be the one finishing it for now (there's much more fruitful hacking work going on at the moment)

I'm a bit curious what the nature of the actual changes are. is this removing security code, or migrating ARM code into the main CPU or something else altogether? Do you have any examples of changes you made and what they did?

Basically it's reading a table or math result from the protection device, but it calls it VERY often. Each request needs the returned value, and there's a crazy number of them.

It needs some kind of script to run it and put the value in, by eye it was getting stupid.

Also it's one of those where you would need to trigger all in game events to get all of the values.
Attract mode was easy because it's the same any time.

Could you make a custom eprom to get all values, or does it need to run from the arm side?

It would be possible to make a modded mame driver and run it with the values printed, running tests on the board would be a lot slower.
Honestly it was a couple years ago since i last looked at it.

If you are interested in the "demo" let me know. I don't want to post it as we don't want unfinished crap floating around.
