Today Demon Front arrivered from Korea so it was time to boot up the PGM again. Sadly when I booted up the game I got surprised with a green screen. The game boots, I can hear the pgm bootup screen and the game itself booting. I can even play it. Tried KOV and showed the same problem.
Using a HAS supergun v5 with meanwell power supply according to the supergun I have 5.08V and 12.28 V input which should be sufficient right?

I have a full recap kit from console5, but before going in that direction I want some assurance that this is the likely direction to go. What should I check before doing a recap?

Ps don’t owe a scope, so might be a good excuse to get one. Any tips for a descent and cheap one will be appreciated.

Well, I'll offer the obvious, clean, clean, clean those connectors. Both the cart AND the PGM. It's a very common issue with the PGM.

You PSU seems good, but play with it by going up and down (not more than 5.15v or lower than 4.85v) after you do the cleaning.

Thanks for the quick reply @XtraSmiley. Already rubbed them down with alcohol. I’ll go over them with an eraser just to be sure. I own a Sega MD and SNES and am familiar with the practice of blowing in the cart :D.

Since I’m getting audio and inputs are being registered, I suspect the problem is likely on the PGM jamma connector side. Suspect it might be the csync pin.

Man that looks soooo clean! I need to find my DF cart one day...

I didn’t even hook it up to my 20 inch pvm :D
There where a bunch of them for sale for a reasonable price on ebay, not cheap but ~$300 is better then $800, which is a ridiculous price if you ask me. But the game looks awesome. Should play with the settings because it’s pretty challenging

I have 2 of them, I just need to find them in my mess! Great game, under rated IMO!

PGM has some fantastic games on it!

Turned out problem wasn’t on the PGM or at least not fully. The retrotink for some reason couldn’t deal with the timings of the PGM. Switching between the timing settings somehow resolved it.

PGM is the only arcade hardware that gives me trouble when converting RGB Scart to Component to use on my CRT TV
I have to use my OSSC and convert HDMI to Component which fixes up the sync issues

@XtraSmiley yeah, the CAVE shmups are some of the best ever made. KOV, Oriental Legend and gladiator are some fun brawlers and SVG, Martial Masters and the killing blade are some fun fighters. Not sure how the puzzle games stack up.

@shelcoof normally CRTs are more forgiving with sync timing from what I’ve read. But msybe the conversion from RGB to YPbPr might be the issue. Neo Geo also is famous for having sync issues like sync curl. I managed to fix the sync curl by copying the advices settings for the Neo Geo.

Puzzle Star is a top tier puzzle game. Puzzli is good, but I’m terrible at it.

I've converted many other consoles and arcade hardware without issues. I've even used about 4 different RGB to Component adapters and all results were the same.

The interesting thing is that I have a Component Switch Box and can output the signal to multiple CRT TVs at once. I've used up to three CRT TVs at once and all three CRT TVs show the same problem with the PGM. Though one out of the three is less problematic than the other two. Which is also strange because I have two exact models running Horizontal and Vertical which is really strange lol.

Anyways this reminds me of my experience with the Atomiswave. I try connecting my Atomiswave directly to my VGA CRT Monitor and it has issues displaying. Once I put in an Extron RGB Interface into the mix I get a proper solid image.

I'm no expert when it comes to video stuff, I'm just fortunate enough to figure out the problem :D
