What's new

Initial D ver.3 twin - how do I get them to link together to play against each other

  1. Make sure the network boards and dimms are seated very firmly. Naomi is notorious for poor seating. Use screws.
  2. Buy new optical cables. Try them. Then,
  3. Buy new power supplies even though you've already checked voltages. Use 500W (or higher) PC ATX with adapters or make your own harness.
If still failing, you're dealing with a hardware failure. Unfortunately there's so much shit involved it's going to be expensive and time consuming to discover the exact board that's failed. My guess is a network board or dimm.

Starting to wonder if one of the communication boards that is sandwiched between the naomi 2 and the dimm went bad

good news today. I pulled the NetDimm boards off again to look them over and everything looked fine. so I put them back on and nothing changed. I decided to swap the NetDimms for a last ditch effort. Powered them up and they linked together. I have no idea why it worked but, it did. Thanks to everyone that chimmed in trying to help.

Thanks,
Alex

screw them down and dont take them off the naomi 2 ever again... netdimms get finiky when removed and put pack on in general. thanks for finding this out as we would have not though this would cause a communication problem.
