Is it possible to use a Mega SG in a Taito Vewlix cabinet?

Hey guys.

As the title kind of hints to, I am the proud owner of a Vewlix/Chewlix arcade cabinet. It came with a Pandora's Box and not wired for Jamma. Instead of gutting it and changing it to Jamma, I decided to pop my Mega SG into it so I could have a proper PAPRIUM arcade cabinet. The issue is that Brooks no longer makes their USB to Sega Genesis adaptor, and I'm at a complete loss as to how to wire the controls.

Any help or direction is appreciated. I know next to nothing about these cabinets, and any advice, maintenance, or mods you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

I did some digging and there doesn't seem to be much for inputting USB control signals and outputting Genesis control signals besides the Brook Super Converter, which is out of stock everywhere. The only thing I was able to track down is this open source Raspberry Pi Pico project, but you have to solder the cable that goes out from the Raspberry Pi Pico GPIO pins to the Genesis port yourself.

I suggest you consider swapping a MiSTer FPGA setup into your cab. It supports USB input for controls and HDMI video output just like your Pandora's Box but it has very accurate console and arcade emulation. They're much cheaper these days too at around $125 for a Taki Udon MiSTer Pi.

I already have a MiSTer cabinet, and you can't run Paprium on it as the cartridge has some sort of FPGA trickery. I've spent all day hunting those super converters to no avail. I guess I'll just have to put something else into it instead and eventually get a Jamma-ized Genesis to put into a CRT based cabinet.

The annoying thing about Genesis controllers is that they need a multiplexer, so you can't just connect the wires.

Brook's Retro Board doesn't support Genesis. But if you can find another adapter, like SNES-to-Genesis or Saturn-to-Genesis, you might be able to chain them as follows:
Arcade cab controls -> Brook Retro Board -> SNES-to-Genesis adapter (or whatever) -> Genesis

@hursit Does the TR Fight Stick Octopus Genesis & MegaDrive Cable have the Genesis controller multiplexer in the cable? Or is the Octopus sending a pre-multiplexed signal over the DB15 port when a Genesis controller is connected?

If the multiplexer is in the cable, then this cable would be a good general-purpose converter from Neo Geo to Genesis. Neo Geo is great because someone could just put arcade lever/button wires into a DB15 breakout terminal without even soldering anything.
