What's new
^I have one of these back home and has undergone various modification stages. I see them from time to time, but they are usually boxed, and it's up to what the clerk had for lunch that day if they are willing to open it up for me.

Just some advice before pulling the trigger. The sticks are standard LS32; if you want new ones, you can quickly drop new ones in. You must get a new panel if you want to use a JLF as the mount for the LS32 is welded to the panel. The buttons need to be desoldered from the board, however. Also, standard 30mm buttons fit the panel; however, they fit loosely. I plugged the 7th and 8th holes, but it still doesn't look as good as a six-button panel. Here's the really crappy part. If you get a repro panel, it does fit; however, the metal tabs on the back side are placed differently, meaning it won't drop right into the slots on the plastic. The screws align with the standard Astro City panel, but the tabs do not. In other words, these tabs need to be removed, or you need to order the panel custom WITHOUT the tabs or have them placed properly. I took my repro New Net City panel to my mechanic, who sawed off the tabs for me.
Perhaps my biggest gripe about the stick is that every time you want to work on it, you must remove the bottom panel before the top panel can be removed. It's time-consuming, and the plastic threads on top of the bottom panel will eventually wear out. It is VERY important to ensure everything is in good working order and you are happy with your choice of stick and buttons before re-assembly because it is a pain in the ass to change anything. A simple spring change or connecting a wire on a button could take over 20 minutes.

Overall, I love the stick and think it is great for having people over. Especially those who don't know much about the hobby; always dig it. That said, it's not a simple stick to work if you want more advanced mods like adding DB15 and RJ45 support, coin buttons, etc. There is a lot of drilling of plastic involved. However, if you keep it as a Saturn-only stick, it is fairly straightforward so long as you know how to do basic soldering.

I attached pics of mine.

Thanks for taking the time to write that up and repost your pics. I actually did come across your build in my research.

I had seen several mentions of removing the tabs, and that it's easy to do with a Dremel. If I had to take it to a pro, I'd probably take years to get around to it.

I wouldn't buy this just for Saturn. My intent was to switch to Brook Ultimate + USB, since I have adapters to convert USB to pretty much everything else and don't have to go buy new RJ45 adapters for a Brook Retro or something.

Oof, that's a deal breaker. To me, the whole selling point of this was that I could swap in different control panels (maybe with headered harnesses so I just have to plug them in/out of a Brook header). If it's a huge pain and is going to wear out some plastic threads, then HSS-0130 is just an overpriced 2P novelty stick that I can build to look like a cabinet CP.

Thanks, @Joko3. I think you just saved me from a very expensive disappointment.

All orders in progress being shipped by Yamato Express will go out tomorrow night (Sunday) Japan time. I will be re-upping on packing supplies at the home center tonight. Pictures of this week's items will be posted after everything has been shipped : )

Just wanted to give a heads-up that I've received a lot more messages than usual (about triple) over the last few days and haven't had time to get to them all. Please be patient so that I can get to them all properly. Thank you for your support : )

Here are some items shipped recently.

Please note, if you want stools there is a very high chance I cannot ship them to your country via surface mail due to size limitations. I will have to ship via Yamato Express size 160 which is around 25-30k yen to many places. Two stools will fit in one box.

Not pictured: more Cave cardboard.

An unusual, but very cool request: Mario Family. This title was made to be hooked up Japanese Jaguar sewing machines. Very rare and expensive. I had no idea it existed until the request came. I can’t wait to see the buyer’s setup when it’s complete!

I have one of those chicken egg timers. Works well, but make sure you don't put it too far deep in boiling water or it'll hard to see. Overcooked a few eggs the first time I used mine because I couldn't see it easily =)

We appreciate the good work you are contributing, but I hope it doesn't get in the way of your language studies! Perhaps, you could get volunteers to help you organize things out?

It's to help make ramen eggs; the chicken thing is a timer. They are obnoxiously expensive on eBay because people suck. I can throw some in your next package if you'd like. They are only 100 yen each : )
Have you tried the ramen egg maker? Does it work?

I'm my own worst enemy in getting in the way of studying! Luckily I have a fire lit under my butt as passing JLPT N2 is about the bare minimum you need to get your foot in the door to a lot of job interviews these days.

I will definitely need some help in the future once I have more space to work with. The ultimate goal is to build up something that can compete with other services, a "by gamers for gamers" type of thing. I've had a lot of packages forwarded to me from Buyee to be condensed down into fewer packages, and I just cannot believe their level of not giving a crap. Total, "meh, it's going overseas and they can't return it anyway" mentality over there.

Temporary pause on new orders. I will be out of the area this week for a few days and don't want merchandise trying to be delivered while I'm gone. I will post again when I'm back in town.
