Does anyone know if any arcade shops in the US sell these JST connectors? I want to make a couple, and I also need the pins.

I tried a few like MikesArcade and ParadiseArcade but didn't see the right ones.

Thanks,

Matt

Which ones?

For Naomi:
The small 4 pin is JST NH and the 6/8 pin power plugs are JST VL

Available at digikey, mouser, RS etc.
Those shops will probably get you 10pcs where a ‘arcade’ shop gets you 1 for the same price

Like these ones on the Chihiro - I know the Naomi has a few of these as well used for some of the racing games... I think they only differ in number of pins.

Obviously I would need the females that plug into these.

Thanks @PascalP - I did some searches on the internet and didn't see anyone in the US selling these - has anyone bought these connectors/pins from someone in the US they can share?

Thanks,

You can use octopart.com to search multiple distributors.

The only place I'm seeing that looks like it has all of them in the US is TLC Electronics and they appear to have a $100 order minimum, though is there a use for all of the headers?

Other connectors with the same pitch can fit these headers, but they won't lock and they won't necessarily have any protection against installing upside down or off by one or more pins.

You can take a stab at 3D printing them. I've had success printing locking connectors that mate with these. You can use the specs sheet for measurements for a 3D design.

The originals don't protect against pin misalignment either. You just can't plug them in the wrong way.

JST NH do protect against pin misalignment. There is extra material either side of the holes in the connector which is longer than the pitch of the holes.

The only way you can misalign them is if you cut one side of the connector down or if you are using a header with less pins than the connector.

sure they do... they have lugs on the outside edges so if you attempt to plug them in off by one pin the lug will hit the pin so you can't insert it.

My mistake. Clever solution without the need to remove a pin and fill up a hole.
