I got myself a Kizuna Encounter for MVS and the Gameplay is fine but the Music has issues. Songs play but every other note is noise, Sound effects seem to be fine. Tried to play the music via the sound test of the UniBios, same effect. Other Carts with the same motherboard have no issues regarding the Music. Cleaned the Kizuna Encounter no change. Anything else i could try?

1) Check if the problem is all time on the same sound effect.
2) Try to play the same music / sound effect when the system is cold and after some minutes when is warm
If the problem is not moving, in my experience you have v rom broken:
-desolder v rom and check crc on programmer.

<rom name="059-v1.v1" offset="0x000000" size="0x200000" crc="530c50fd" sha1="29401cee7f7d2c199c7cb58092e86b28205e81ad" /> <!-- TC5316200 -->
<rom name="216-v2.v2" offset="0x200000" size="0x200000" crc="03667a8d" sha1="3b0475e553a49f8788f32b0c84f82645cc6b4273" /> <!-- mask rom TC5316200 -->
<rom name="059-v3.v3" offset="0x400000" size="0x200000" crc="7038c2f9" sha1="c1d6f86b24feba03fe009b58199d2eeabe572f4e" /> <!-- TC5316200 -->
<rom name="216-v4.v4" offset="0x600000" size="0x200000" crc="31b99bd6" sha1="5871751f8e9e6b98337472c22b5e1c7ede0a9311" /> <!-- mask rom TC5316200 -->

Otherwise if the problem is evident on one sound and when it cools down the system disappears temporarily and reappears on another sound shortly after it is the PCM.
Move all rom to another ProgTop, easy to find on SuperSidekik 2

Take a nice and hi-res picture of Prog board, and post here. So we can see.

1) Its the Music not the sound effects but as far as i can tell its always the Same.
2) Hot or Cold makes no difference.

Regarding Moving stuff to a Super Sidekick 2 Prog board would i have to move the Chips only or also solder the smd resistors?

The music contains digital samples, so that's correct, those are stored in the V roms.
Since your "problem sample" is always the same, it's 99.9% chance that it's the V-rom.

Looking at the picture, 216-V2 seems to have some liquid spilled on it in the middle. Check the three IC legs yet? What's on them? It looks like some white crap?

The discoloration on top and on the site where there from the get go (mechanical stress or heat damage no clue really). On the pins might be residue from the methylated spirit (had no iso on hand). The three legs/solder points seem, visually at least, to be fine.

If some fluid dripped on it when the board was running, it may have shorted out the data/adress lines for that chip.

Check you V rom first CRC if you have a programmer, and yes if you move eprom on new board you have to move jumpers also.
What the hell happened on this PCM Chip ;( ? Check if pins is moving and reflow it.. look like that some one have already changed it..
In my experience, when a board is really dirty you have to clean it first otherwise you might carry errors with you. ( you can use 99% alcohol and a toothbrush on the contacts.)
what happens on the other side of the board ? photos ?

yes v2 needs a deep cleaning and a crc test, definitely !

Sometimes you'll get lucky and simply reflowing a V rom will be enough.

Relevance? If your looking for a price on Kizuna Encounter a broken Cart seems to me like a bad basis 🤨

Just curious if the seller sold it as a defective cart or a fully working cart at the price
