Hello I seem to have hit a dead-end on a VERY long project im working on and really looking for basically ANY resources, arts, manuals, hardware information or photos.
Long story short trying to convert one of these machines back into an Otomedius a lofty en-devour.
Lets get right into what im looking for and asking for right off the bat so we dont lose any one.
- CRUCIAL --- LCD/Touch information: The machine is upgraded to 16:9 LCD and serial IR Touch (seems similar to what reflect beat uses. Otomedius uses a 4:3 LCD of unknown manufacture and a serial touch system of unknown manufacture or technology type (Is it IR??)
- Software information: While I basically have all I need in terms of software. What is not floating around is a raw drive image or installer images. So if I had a way to look at the original C drive windows system files I could maybe get a hint as to what LCD or Touch hardware was used. However I highly doubt theres hints to this actually in the system anywhere but regardless having the drivers etc that were originally with the machine preserved would be good protocal than some hacked togehter solution.
- System Hardware Information: Konami PC's theres a number of variants from the time. Its not mission critical and it seems more or less similar to a TTX2 motherboard with some kind of ATI radeon GPU (another user documented the GPU already in this forum)
- Art work : The impossible elephant in the room, art, if I can have scans or highres photos I could get art remade for the main cabinet body. The topper marquee art I already found NOS for.
- Control Panel: Alberto has the art made for these and the CP is metal easy enough to make.
- Random Fabrication: If I can ideally find a 4:3 lcd solution to do I would have my fabricator basically design a box just like the upgrade monitor uses to house the LCD, the topper marquee is very simple its a box with back lights in it. Should be easy enough to fab up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heres the semi winded technical background thats been trimmed up some to try to get to the point:
The machine I have is upgraded to winning eleven 2014 which makes a few big upgrades to the cabinet chassis .
The upgrade kit outside of arts and toppers changes the following; phase out of the old school konami din style security keys and changes to their newer USB keys, the system board gets upgraded, and the bigger issue is that the LCD is upgraded from 4:3 to 16:9 and uses what I could only assume is the same touch and lcd panels that reflect beat uses (more on that later).
Otomedius uses something called libtouchpanel.dll to interface with the cabinets touch system. One of the unknowns is what tech is even being used for touch. Based on the VERY FEW photos and videos I found it seems very possible that the original 4:3 touch interface is also an IR grid.
I can also deduce the general IO and touch IO still follows the way the 2014 cabinet is using. As both of them use simple Dsub serial connections.
So anways after messing around enough we can get the game to full load on this cabinets upgraded system board using the Winning Eleven 2014 disk drive by migrating the 1s and 0s onto the base windows install t (you know for hardware driver support).
The libacio (io dll file) still works nothing complains so far.
Only thing is we are bombing out on Touch Panel checks and the game barks out an error 5-1503-0001 complaining theres an issue with the Touch Panel.
Well this is kind of to be expected since this 16:9 screen and touch border is newer. AND I dont even know for sure if its uses IR touch.
So thats it this is where we are at.
I have some hunchs on similar era Konami machines we could try to scavange 4:3 LCD / Touch solutions in hopes it is identical to what was used with these machines but I have no way to know.

Not sure where to shove this off to so i put it here
