I picked up a Konami Simpsons board and it has the 4-player ROM chips (I believe they’re original—see photos). Looking to purchase or trade for a set of original two-player ROM chips.

Unless you find someone to do it free for you (many people on the forums will if you cover the cost of EPROMs and shipping), hobbyroms.com is probably your best bet in the US.

Thanks!

Burning new ROMs is my backup option if I can’t find original ROM chips quickly / easily. Any idea where I can find the necessary files?

You are not going to find original chips b/c then someone would be short chips on their PCBs. Besides, I would order working ones from that site as it's the same thing the only difference is the label but you'll be sure to get working chips as I think he checks them.

You'd have to grab them from a MAME pack or I guess someone here could provide them. As to which ones, I'm sorry I don't know, but paging @Apocalypse because he would know!

Also, years ago the hobby roms guy would help me source the proper files, but he may be too busy to help now-a-days. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Also, check out the MAME ROMS. It might be clearly labeled as 2-player U27-29 or whatever.

That’s why I was hoping for a trade with someone looking for 4P ROM chips but I guess that’s not really going to happen.

Thanks for the info!

I've never seen a 2 player in the wild and I've played a LOT of Simpsons, hell I own a dedicated cab!

My guess is if someone did have it, they wouldn't trade bc/ the 2 player is probably rarer, and psychologically, more valuable. Real value does not apply b/c people's irrational emotions can drive prices up. Anyway, if I had the 2 player, I would trade you man!

That being said, it is probably cheaper just to buy 2 EPROMs from hobbyroms than trying to mail back and forth. I mean he charges like $10 including EPROM last time I got one.

Yeah youre right. I’ll keep trying to find the right files to burn and reach out to hobby roms. There’s a set on eBay but I don’t feel like paying the $35 for this conversion.

Thanks!

@kikaso Hello mate ! it's correct what Nem was mentioned to do in this case ... you need to talk with who will helps you with these files to be writed on eeproms , to write you on : 27c010 or 27c1001 eeproms ! you need 4 x 27c010 or 27c1001. Cheers ^^

I thought these were M27C322? Is that not the case?

See, the team here knows their stuff! That being said, it looks like 4 EPROMS? So uh, maybe it is cheaper to pay $35 in one shot? I don't know man, please double check prices before you pull the trigger, I do NOT want to give you bad advice!

Ive never had a question go unanswered; even the most obscure and technical, (to me, at least). The team here is fantastic.

I got a quote of $50 plus shipping from hobbyroms so that $35 set on eBay isn’t looking too bad like you said. I think I’m going to go with buyicnow. It comes out to $13 shipped including programming.

Glad to hear it and wow, buyicnow is cheap! Just make sure you keep the original EPROMs with the labels intact in case you ever want to trade or sell the PCB, they make it more valuable!

Just wanted to update the thread and say the EPROMs from buyicnow worked perfectly. I ordered on Dec. 13 and these arrived today. Thanks to all for your assistance.
