What's new
it'd be cool if someone built an RTC replacement around an ESP32, no battery and use the onboard wifi to get the current time on boot.

I hope someone can come up with a fix. These chips are costly to replace and are all dying so the battery mod works for now, but a permanent solution to bypass that check would be even better!

I'm thinking of getting a broken DDR (same issue I believe) but waiting and hesitating until I get this game going to pull the trigger

Does anyone know what file I need to fix the RTC??

Download the files from the game that are dumped in mame. Inside the zip will be file needed to be programed to the rtc. I can't remember though, some of the konami games can write to the rtc on boot if you hold test or something

Ok I got the nvram.29 file
I'm trying to see if I can burn the file to the DALLAS chip or ST chip with this reader I found locally off offer up 😉

Looks like enough to solder to. If you look at my pic, the red wire is positive. So in your pic(since upside down) the left is positive

Ok. All soldered on. New battery reading 3.2v

How do I erase this eprom??
I have a TL866II PLUS reader. My erase buttons are not "clickable"

Any idea why this is failing? Always fails to verify in the end by 1 or 2 differences.

It was "successful" now but still RTC MEMORY BAD now instead of RTC MEMORY CHECK BAD so I'm throwing in the towel for now.

My game won't boot still says "RTC SELF CHECK BAD " and doesn't boot. So IDK

Or the chip was held in some reset state between programming and verifying.

Try reading the chip now (after it has been off the programmer) and verify. Those bytes should fail.

Does that programmer short the pinsfor you,I remember having to have a jumper on some pins in the past. But yeah, program chip, remove from programmer, put back on and verify. If just the clock bytes are different, it's holding code and should work.
Also, did you confirm you got the right file, iirc there is a mocapb and mocapbj set, just confirm you have right one

I don't know if it does short a pin or not or if it needs to or not honestly.
I'll re try to burn it and let it sit. I haven't done that yet I've immediately taken it to test.

So it failing at the tail end of programming is what I want?
Cool.
I believe I do have the right data
