Konami Windy 1 & 2 Marquee Insert Files

Thanks @vaughan14, so did you use 300 and not 2935? I thought the colour was set in the file itself. Is the contour cut line where they actually cut it out with the blade? Thanks again.

Honestly, I keep coming back to check out the ‘full bleed’ art. I think that looks brilliant!!

Any interest in doing a couple of other games?
I’d be happy to pay for your time doing it, and then perhaps the files can be shared in here for others to use too.

If not (I know this was for a personal project and you might not be interested in doing others), would you mind if I asked in the wanted forum if someone with the skills would do the above?

@ChrisBEANS

I bet if we got the right dimensions, we could ask people in the (outside) artist community for help too.

Edit: I just wanted to comment and say how awesome I think this is, and I am happy to see the Windy getting some love.

I do not personally have the time to do more full bleed art stuff, I'm already stretched too thin on design projects at the moment and feeling mildly stressed about keeping up with it all. I probably won't do another one until I get a shmup I'm really stoked about and motivated to swap the marquee out on my Windy to represent it. What that game would even be right now I dunno!

I certainly don't own the concept of going full bleed, and while I appreciate the consideration my files are just a recreation of the existing design, anyone should feel free to use them for any purpose really. Just be aware this kind of thing is more work than resizing, you pretty much need some decent scans and photoshop skills to take things apart and rebuild them for a new shape/layout as well as aspect ratio and size.

tl;dr - please feel free to use my files to make more full bleed marquees, would love to see what people come up with.

Thanks @vaughan14, I’ve installed my print. I didn’t end up using the sticker - I just cut around the sticker and the slots on the bottom and sandwiched it inside the marquee.

Awesome!
Now I just need to have the marquee itself || - did anybody already recreate those?
Very unlikely I suspect. They're pretty complicated with the angles and dimensional parts, would require injection molding to do right I would imagine. Be an expensive thing to take on for pretty niche sales.

Might be an interesting project to try creating an alternate one with laser cut acrylic and 3D printed parts to mount it, you could probably make something reasonably similar that looked nice from the front at least, but it would never really look stock.

Someone could use my files as a starting point, but you'd need access to a Windy to get all the angled bits right and test things. Not something I have the time to tackle myself, which is why I overpaid for a replacement marquee.

There’s a bloke over at AO willing to make some ‘full bleed’ variants of Windy marquees, but there’s currently not enough interest over there to make it worth his while…

Selfishly, I’m pimping it here too in the hope of more interest.

I bought some backlit Blast marquees from him years ago and I can absolutely vouch for the quality.

Sign me up for 2 if this ever happens. I'm not sure it's in my skill-set to make one let alone 2, but I'd be interested in whatever you come up with.

Anyone find a solution to make marquee holders for Windys?? 3D printed bases with a flat acrylic that screws from the bottom to sandwich 2 pieces together possibly??

I was thinking something similar. Forget trying to make one piece of acrylic/polycarbonate and make a bracket (I was thinking laser cut stainless steel) that screws into the cabinet mounts to which one attaches a similarly sized set of back and front clear plastic.
