I've got a Chunithm cabinet coming in tomorrow, and frankly, I feel under-prepared for it. I'm somewhat familiar with some of the hackery involved with getting these machines operating off-network, but I haven't found any direct resources about Chunithm cabs themselves. This is research I meant to do, well, months ago, but life got in the way. I'm confident in my ability to get it working eventually, once I sort out the appropriate resources, but... would anyone happen to have a lead on such info, or know somebody who might be willing to give a first-time cab owner the low-down? Part of my reason for putting it off is that I don't quite know what state the machine's coming in; I've been assured it's got all the relevant hardware (including security chip) but my understanding is that won't be enough to get it happy playing off-network, and some... let's say "software configuration" will be involved, at the very least.

Any help/leads would be massively appreciated.

i dont even know what it is :D
but i would start by trying to remove all the security/protection.
because then you can patch stuff without setting off any security shit.

It's a fun one, but it's been around a while! 2014 IIRC was first release; I fell in love with it when I was over in Japan, and was sad that it never seemed to make it over to the US in any arcades around me; I spent enough time over there to get "decent", so I'm looking forward to picking it back up in the comfort of my own hemisphere. Fun first cabinet buy, IMO -- haven't been able to make it back over to JP since 2019, so I might as well bring a piece of it here.

As for ripping out the security stuff, yeah I'm probably gonna have to subvert the HDD encryption; was just hoping to maybe find some other owners to copy their homework from, or something, lol. I know a few have made it over here in private collections.

hopefully whatever they did was similar to a common system like ring**** so the research has already been done
