Hi all, I am in a similar situation.
Have a working Silver Satellite system that came loaded with Virtua Fighter 5 FS. The security chip plugged in is 253-5640-009.
It’s working fine but I am a bit wary of the hard drive life span and would like to be able to create a backup using Gnome disk utility on Ubuntu machine and clone to a new SSD. The game is installed on a 2.5 hard disk connected through a SATA to IDE adapter.
I am trying to wrap my head around as I don’t have the install DVD and trying to understand how to unlock the drive (assuming we can’t just clone and swap out). Reading notes on GitHub but not clear if I have to unlock through terminal on the Lindbergh itself, or able to run plscsi commands on another machine with drive connected.
Any advice is appreciated.
