I added the control panel fuses myself, I don't think they're stock.
 
Must be a common operator install, I've seen them installed in a couple different cabinets. Also, the fuses are oddly redundant. What benefit is there to adding the fuses to the control panel?

if it is custom, it could be different for others. Personally I protect the voltage line that goes into the solenoids to protect them from burning out. I also put the lines onto a switch so that I can turn on and off the recoil at will.
 
Unable to get this out of my head, I did some more digging. I found, what I would consider, a more trustworthy drawing of the power supply connections in the Cabinet Wiring Diagram on page 3-27.

Here, you can clearly see the more sensible connection between Earth and DC ground. I wanted to post this as reinforcement to what others have already said. =P
