I recently picked up my first arcade game (SegaSonic the Hedgehog) and I got a cbox (attached image) that allows me to plug in Sega Saturn or Neo Geo controllers. The only problem is that I need to do some tests on the game I got in order to find the specific cause of a bug and that requires using both the test button and the service button. There is a test button on the cbox and pushing it launches the test menu, but there is a message in the test menu that mentions using both the test button and the service button in order to navigate through the menu. There isn't a service button on this cbox unfortunately. Is the service button something that is on the motherboard (and if so, where?) or is it wired in through jamma? It looks like it's through jamma but I would appreciate some confirmation because on some pinout charts I see that "service" goes to "R", but some other pinouts mark "R" as "unused". Which is correct? And just to confirm, one wire should go to "R" while the other goes to "GND", right? The button has two prongs. I think what I'm going to do is solder a quick disconnect to the appropriate pads and run it through the ventilation holes, and then I can attach and remove the button when necessary.

Yes.

And yes, you just run one wire from there and one from one of the GND's and press the button.

Questionable choice leaving an important button off of a supergun though, how odd.
