So recently we formed a partnership with member plasticfactory and his company Arkplas. Arkplas bought a Neoden 4 pick and place machine as well as an IN6C conveyer reflow oven and had them shipped toe at my home. The intention is to speed up the output of our products as well as do runs of new types of products. Not just new designs but maybe even open source products. We would love to also offer assembly services to other small creators. Arkplas specializes in making all sorts of plastic products and that includes custom runs. Luckily for the hobby Nick, aka plasticfactory, is willing to do smaller runs of things just for the sake of the hobby if it makes sense. I'll let him chime in about his company if he wishes.

Last week I did training on the machines with a representative of Neoden USA. I got a good handle on basics of running the machine and only practice and experience can help further. Below is a video I took during training.

The machine is running at half-speed in that video. It can go faster but you increase the odds of a misplace the faster you go. The machine came with a starter amount of tape feeders/peelers and nozzles. It can hold up to 38 different 8mm tape feeders. Currently I only have 5 lol. Obviously the more I have the more parts I can have the machine pick automatically for me. To system the machine will pick the parts that are used the most and I'll hand pick the rest. The ultimate goal is to gear up the machine enough to eventually run most pcbs completely with the machine.

The first run of pcbs will be the presold MultiJVS units I sold a few weeks ago. The money was used to buy all parts for training and the run of Multi JVS. I will slowly add more feeders as I go along.

These are the feeders/peelers (always make sure to buy the pair) that the machine takes:

I'll be slowly adding them but also some people have asked how to contribute to the site via donation etc. We don't have a donate button but if you really want to donate you can send me a tape feeder/peeler. I'll even name it after you! :P

Thanks guys, but I'm just along for the ride :) The real legends are the guys designing and making these awesome products.

I can't wait to see the PNP fully utilized -- I have a feeling it's going to open some big doors.

For AP, as Mitsu mentioned, the small runs are very much a labor of love. We are a large-volume manufacturer that specializes in life sciences, but with a full service tool room there isn't much we can't make :) I hope to incorporate something specific to the hobby space in the near future as to not muddy the waters. Now, to finish the open projects...
