Hello, first time posting here, hope someone can help me

I have a working Manx TT Model 2A CRX and I was trying to convert it to Virtua Fighter. I have a rom board but when I remove the Manx TT rom and communication board and try to run it with Virtua Fighter 2, I only get a black screen. Do the CPU or Video board jumpers matter? Thanks!

Still not sure if I'm supposed to change a jumper on the CPU board... when I try with Manx TT, it turns on the red & green LEDs and the game runs fine, but when I try with VF2, no LEDs and only black screen. I tried VF2 with the communication board from Manx TT, the comm board lit up the LED but still nothing from VF2. Bad rom board or should this just fire right up?

is this an original VF2 ROM board? was it from a confirmed working setup?

Yes, it is an original VF2 rom board, but the website I bought the rom board from didn't specify whether or not it was from a confirmed working setup. Videotronics in the UK , the listing didn't say it -wasn't- working so I would assume it was sold in working condition

yeah it sounds like Program ROMs or ROM board jumper settings are bad.

I confirmed the jumpers and they are correct -- there is only 1 jumper different between Manx TT and VF2 rom boards anyway so that was easy.

Ok, I'll try reseating those ROMs and see. Thanks!

So I went through and cleaned the pins and reseated the 3 program ROMs, nothing. Haven't touched the data ROMs yet

I decided to see if the FLIR camera would help, here's what it saw... is this normal?

You need to match it with the same revision as the other roms. I assume yours is B, so

epr-17562b.14

Alternatively, you can convert it to 2.1 if you change all four program roms to

epr-18385.12
epr-18386.13
epr-18387.14
epr-18388.15

https://buyicnow.com/ is a cheap source for programmed eproms.

I ended up just programming an AM27C1024 ROM I had available with the .14 file and called it a day, game booted right up and worked great.

I'm getting BAD RAM on the memory test, ic54 and ic55 when I test VF2.. but they come up GOOD when I run the memory test with ManxTT. Is this because of a version difference in the Model 2A CPU board? I noticed that some have a jumper by the i960, some don't. Mine does

Virtua Fighter could be testing parts of the RAM that Manx TT is not.

Unless you can see something wrong with the game I wouldn't worry about it.
