Monitor blinks off and on but sound remains?

The picture on friend’s aero city has started blinking on and off. While this happens, the sound continues and the game runs as normal. There are no color issues or any oddities visible when the picture returns.

Any idea what might be causing this?

Sounds simple, but the very very easy first things I check when something like this pops up:

-Try other games and make sure your jamma connector is getting the correct voltage. Some games have horrible sync issues or do wacky things without the right nower, and you want to make sure you are troubleshooting the right thing.

-Make sure all lines are plugged into the chassis. (I've had my RGB connector pop off inexplicably)

-Make sure nothing is shorting out your monitor's adjustment pots. Like a stray wire or coin or something. Can cause shit to go haywire.
