Moonwalker Suicide Woes

I am fixing a Moonwalker pcb and the FD1094 is very dead. The game turns on to a black screen with no sound or video. I burned replacement roms for 13232 and 13233 and have a 68k; and still no signs of life. I can see activity on the cpu and work ram with a scope. For some reason I also have a spare FD1094 and roms from another moonwalker. Should I be able to boot with that? Because I don't.

Do I need to do anything with the 8751 for de-suicide? I don't know if I screwed up burning the roms or if the board has more problems I can't see.

The 8751 needs to be removed from the board for it to boot up with the decrypted code and standard 68000 CPU. Give that a try and fingers crossed that that's all it needs...

Removing the 8751 makes no difference.

What version of the game are you trying to resurrect? What's the ID number on the FD1094 CPU? It should be one of these listed.

You must use the same romset, and you will need to make sure it is the NO-MCU version
You may also need to move some jumpers on daughter board.
I have gotten MW to run on both formats of the daughter card.

Also make sure 68000 you have is at least 10mhz

Yes, I have a 68000P10.

This is not a conversion, do I still need the no mcu roms? If I use the linked no mcu roms do I burn them all or just a4 and a6? I am using jammarcade.net's desuicide roms.

As mentioned, I have a spare FD1094, is it viable to reprogram the FD1094 via arcade hacker's project?

For sure MCU has to come out to use the No MCU romset, which I believe is the only romset that is unencrypted.

Yes you can change the battery in the FD and reinject encryption table using arcade hacker Arduino. I have not done a moonwalker, but have done CPS1 key injection using his rig.
Not simple but not overly complicated to reinject.
I just do the unencrypted No MCU romset when I do MW.

You have the smaller daughter card on yours, (easy to ID as it has not "SEGA" chip in the middle of it), so the locations on the roms are different.
Make sure you get the correct romset for the daughter card you do. All the info is here, I found it when I was poking around, and then learned how to convert the other daughter card also.

Did this work before and went dead, or did you get it dead and we were hoping it was just suicided?

The history of the board is unknown, but the FD1094 was trashed and the board is in good condition. I will need de-suicide regardless.
I guess I will have to break out the oscilloscope and start testing parts.

I re-installed the original roms and mcu because I built a FD1094 programmer.
Board seems to be stalled however. A lot of the ram on the right side of the board gets concerningly hot while running; looks like I have a ton of sockets in my future.
