So I have an MS-2933 with very soft focus and an MS-2931 with very sharp focus. Both have been recapped but I don't think the filter cap on the 33 has been replaced yet. The tube on the 33 has less annoying screen burn (the 31 has F355 challenge burn) and I just finished getting the dynamic convergence and geometry to be decent on the 33. My question is, what would be the best way to go about swapping them around to get superior focus on the better tube? The neckboards appear to be the same for both the chassis, so I was thinking about desoldering the flybacks from the main boards and swapping them so that the chassis that is less prone to destroying tubes is still on my nicer one lol. Only problem is, the flyback sticker says MSU1FUK203 whereas the 31 flyback is an MSU1FUS11. Zero results on Google for the 33's flyback, so I'm not sure if they're compatible. The tubes seem like they can be swapped as far as I can tell (please let me know if this is not the case) so I could do that if I have to, but are the yokes the same too? I don't have anything to measure inductance on-hand.

A lot of these questions seem like they might have an obvious answer, but I figured I'd ask about it first out of an abundance of caution. The lack of a 2933 manual is keeping me wary.

Also, could this focus problem be a symptom of something other than the flyback? It would be nice to fix it instead of swapping anything if that's the case.

Good call. Just placed the order and picked up filter caps too.
Fingers crossed 🤞
it's not only that a long time ago I was working on a 2930 with no blue, I had spare 2934 neckboard swapped it in and I had blue but no focus no matter what adjustment I made. I eventually found a blown resistor on the original neckboard and restored the missing blue color. I did learn that there was plenty of difference in component values on the 2934 compared to the 2930 neckboard to make focus not work. Those two neckboards might not be fully compatible.

you can just swap the chassis 2931 to the better tube. The inductance values are not identical but are close enough to one another that you will have a problem.

I have personally done this many times
