I'm looking for the remote board cable for an MS2931. The one that I have is split into two parts, so I'm looking for the chassis side. I'd buy a whole one if it's what you've got though. If anyone reading this happens to know what the connectors are I'd be fine with making one too.

Separately I'm looking for a known good original MS2931 flyback. or known good whole MS2930 or MS2931 chassis.

Update: I bit the bullet on a 2931 chassis from YAJ.

Don't mean to thread hijack, and ill delete this if you ask me, but if someone can make that cable I also need the chassis side one 😀

There have been some chassis on yahoo Japan recently. I just got one myself.
 
I don't own one of these monitors and can't much in the way of good pictures. Can someone post some detailed pictures of each end of the cable?
 
The connector for the wire on the remote board and chassis are the same. It's a female, little JST guy.

The center connection is a 12 pin female on the remote board side, and 12 pin male on the chassis side. Pins 5,6,7,8 are used

remote board -> 4 pin female -> 12 pin female -> 12 pin male -> 4 pin female -> chassis

remote board and chassis are:
  1. GND
  2. UP
  3. DOWN
  4. IN/OUT/MODE
middle connection is the same order just on pin 5:




  5. GND
  6. UP
  7. DOWN
  8. IN/OUT/MODE

The monitors I have all need the remote board to work. I just noticed the nanao 2931 does not need it.

I just got a 2nd 2931 monitor for a blast project and it wasn't turning on. I was figuring it was the missing remote board, but now I'm thinking the chassis needs work....
 
So since we last spoke, I did get the tool I was missing for JST SM (the center connector). I just ordered all the connectors needed as I didn't have SM in 12pin or PH in 4 pin. Looks like they'll be here by the end of the month and I'll update when I have them ready. Note that these cables will be purely functional and not matching aesthetically the original, as I don't have that type of cable they will be made with ordinary individual 22AWG wires tied together. Also one end of the center connector will be black while the other will be white, that's just what's in stock.
 
Also, can someone measure each end of the cable and let me know the results?
 
The remote board side is just about 39". The chassis side one is bundled up in my cabinet and I don't want to pull it out. I'd say it's safe to say it's a similar length. These things are way too long.

I got 40" from the remote board to the middle piece, and 32" from the middle piece to the chassis.

The part I need is that 32" part.

Its also way longer than necessary.

Figured about the length. If someone with one of these monitors and the cabs they go in could figure out an ideal length of each section that doesn't waste a bunch of wire (using a wire to lay it out and then measuring the wire) it would be appreciated. Then I could sell one original length and one shorter for less cost.
 
It's the same as the ms8/ms9 remote board on the astro city. It's mounted in a similar spot and goes to the chassis. 30"should be adequate from my measurements in my end. So the fact the cable is 40" + 32" is overkill. The initial 40" cable is enough.

overkill is good when you don't know the size/shape of the cabinet when you're manufacturing the monitor. But like @dos said you can make an ideal length cable bespoke to the application.

For one of my poker machines that uses a Ceronix chassis the neck board is attached with a ribbon cable harness. Well apparently this chassis is used in different cabinets. Mine was a "slant top" sit down game, but they're also used in upright slot machine style cabinets. So the neckboard cabling wasn't long enough to reach from the chassis to the neck of the tube?! I had to build a custom extension harness because the other end was hard wired to the neck board. Luckily I was able to figure out the connector type on digikey. Seems silly now to have different sub-versions of neckboards because you want different length ribbon cables, just go with the longest length one and tie it up.... or at least make both ends removable connectors and then you just have the ribbon cable part to deal with. Nanao did that much right.
