The first ones which jump up to my mind which I have in my collection are some Namco’s ones such as Dig Dug (I have an Atari distributed one, but it’s the same PCB as the Namco’s one), Xevious (again Atari PCB which is different this time), Namco Classic Collection vol. 1 and 2 and Konami Circus Charlie and Frogger (Sega licensed but Konami’s PCB). Maybe my TAITO’s Space Invaders too, but I just got it and I must fix it first. Capcom seems to be more friendly with the flip switch in 1942 and Commando. I didn’t test Tate games in my multis yet (CPS1, CPS2 and F3) but I suspect more modernish games having a flip option, not sure tho.
But yeah, probably most was incorrect, I should have said most of my non multi PCBs.Enough for me to actively trying to explore the monitor flip switch solution.
I actually thought about that. I honestly didn’t actively search for patches, but I tried to disassemble and find the relevant code (with the help of AI) for Dig Dug… that should be feasible for games with a cocktail option since they support screen flip for player 2 and it’s just matter of inverting the logic between p1 and p2. But I suspect it may be very difficult for some games with no cocktail support such as the Namco Collections and it would be a game per game patching process while the monitor switch would be an universal and definitive solution.
