Soooo....who's organizing the group buy and starting the thread? Haha. But, in all honesty, it would be sweet to get in on possibly the last run of Taito's (likely) final, standard-stick-and-buttons-style cab. If Taito agreed to do a limited run of 50 lime green Diamonds, I'd be in for at least 4 :P . I'm pretty sure @jassin000 first suggested the lime-green dream cab and I wholeheartedly support the suggestion.

Jokes aside, thanks @arcadeprojectsrocks for the info. I had no idea Taito officially endorses any possible future VLX productions.

which have M3 threads so I'll get two short M3 screws with washers.

I just checked the 100 yen coin slot on my Vewlix and a US quarter doesn't fit so I should use 100 yen coins. Can I adjust the above coin mech for 100 yen coins?

If not I should get a AD-81P and according to this it has to have a specific part to work with 100 yen coins:

Any idea how to find a AD-81P that will work with 100 yen?

FWIW the AD-81P mounting pin thread is unspecified but the coin mech uses M3 threads almost everywhere else:

Look underneath the coin slot on the control panel and remove the two screws. There's a thin metal guard in place between the coin slot and the panel that prevents people from putting in coins larger than 100yen.
I haven't tried any coins except 100yen, but remove it, and I think you'll be able to use quarters and your 25cent mechanism.
 
Thanks @adgenet, it worked perfectly. The coin drops into the cash box and the coin counter increments if the power is on. Quick Google search says no easy way to reset the coin counter.

Next up I'll try hydrogen peroxide and UV light on the yellowed plastic, and a vice to straighten out the bent metal.
 
I would have thought the coin counter is for reconciling coins that entered the box with coins that exited the box. I don't see how to use it for that purpose without a coin counter reset but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do that so that must not be what it's for. What is it for?
