Hello there!
Did you use some adhesive foam under the speaker cover when refurbishing your NAC?
When I dismounted the cab, there was a lot of adhesive foam. I guess a double sided, or two (one on each speaker cover and front panel - face to face). Is it important to do that? Maybe the speaker cover will not assume to be hold by only two screws and will collapse? The billboard lower did also have sponge (one side on the billboard itself, and also on the speaker cover).
Also, if double sided adhesive foam is used to fix the sp cover to the frt panel, there will be no way to remove it later. That's why I wonder if maybe they added two adhesive, one on each part. But if hypothesis is correct, these foam are not here to maintain/hold the parts, but only for fill a gap or I don't know...
Thank you

What's used there is VHB (very high bond). It is a foam, double-sided adhesive by 3M. Personally, I used electrical tape to hold in the speaker covers on the header and I haven't re-bonded the header to the cab yet. When I do, it will be with VHB.

Lots of good questions and information in your posts, @erzane

Perhaps you can post all of your questions in one thread so that the information is organized in one location. Especially since they all pertain to the restoration of a New Astro City.

Todo : are you talking about this foam (pls check pic)?
Do we have to use this strong tape to avoid the speaker cover collaps, or only to prevent that it comes off and generate some little gaps all around? There are only two screws who maintain the speaker cover (see pic#3), I guess the meaning of that strong tape is pertinent by this point of view...

Actually, I did like you, but I didn't even used any tape. But since the speakers will not be fixed to the speaker cover but to the front panel only - concretely (pls see purple narrows on the relative pic), I thought there will be no pressure at all on the speaker cover, so I was wondering if that tape could be used only for prevent esthetic needs (to prevent gaps for exemple), or to prevent a concret technical issue (prevent collapsing).

Also, what about the lower billboard? It seems the foam used on it is a normal adhesive foam of 1mm thickness. One layer on the billboard, and another layer on the front panel.

Kikaso : I guess it's too late for that since I'm on my last questions haha, but you are totaly right. Anyway, I'll post my restoration thread soon but not before I have finished at least at 95%. That thread will explain all the process, from the head to the toe, including absolutely all the parts of that cab, and will probably gather all the past topics including these ones. In the meanwhile, your participation is much appreciated.
