Hi there

i’m hunting the possible root cause issue for a Namco System 11 Souledge bought on eBay last week, original issue is no sound at all : no sound in game or when insert coin, when playing or startup (no sound on mono jamma pin, stereo sound pin on additionnal connector not tested art this time). Used severals supergun same issue (ebay board with no sound related issue)

https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/mame/drivers/namcos11.cpp

Steps already done :
- isopropyl boards clean up.
- assembly connectors checked
- chip removed, checked and inserted on mobo socket. (for those who can be manually removed) : WAVE chip..
- mono/stereo setup in bios (with full settings reset)
- mobo sound pot checked with ohmmeter
- complete capkit done (no missing cap)
- cpu board ram reflow
- mobo ic reflow near the audio circuit
- motherboard inspection both side (20x lens)
- sound prog rom on motherboard reflow (PROG.6D)
- C76 seems to be visually fine.
- no visible trace issue around 4558, LC78815, LA4705
- 4558 removed to check trace issue
- no visible trace issue around jamma edge connector on sound pin.
- board have a great visual

Interesting thing :
- no sound with sound tests, can only play the first one with no sound, the other one music dont start : when playing menu game display the output way on screen (i don’t know if this issue is normal or caused by a bad rom)

Possible cause :
Trace issue
Bad rom
4558
LC78815
LA4705
ROM BOARD
WAVE.8K
C352
Cpu board ?
Rom board connector

As there many components which can cause this, is there someone who had the same issue regarding this ? I think for a possible rom issue out there but i’m but not sure.

Next steps :
- check output and input with Logic probe the 4558, LC78815, LA4705 (and scope)
- check for sound with mini hp on stereo aux edge connector
- check for trace issue around sound circuit another time.
- reflow rom board
- remove sound prog rom and test it ?

I dont have spare ROM BOARD or mobo to confirm possible issue. No graphic issue is present. I’ve tools to remove chip and replace rom if needed. I don’t know if there is dedicated ram for audio (not sure)

try injecting sound into the input pins of the amplifier.
if it works, work back by injecting sound into opamps etc

actually, before you even do that.
get a datasheet for the amp and make sure it's getting 12v at it's power pins.
