So my blast city monitor was in decent state but started to do a very worrying "expansion" move randomly and more and more frequently, so i decided to recap.
I managed to lift some via rings on the underside, but after managing to fasten them with solder they beep to their connection points using a multimeter so i THINK theyre ok.
However, when i power it on it makes a few clicks (relays?) but i get no glow whatsoever.
Did i mess up the chassis?
Is the tube dead?

The tube is probably ok.
Since you mention lifting pads, that might be your issue there.
I've had a similar situation with a MS8-26 lately. The recap went wrong and I did some damage in the process. It can be a broken trace, lifted pad, wrong polarity on a cap or something shorted that can have impacted other components when you powered up after the recap.
In my case, I tried to inspect every solder joint I touched and double checked polarity on every cap, but still couldn't find the issue.
I had to send it out for repair unfortunately.

So you best bet now is:
-If you feel confident, grab the schematics and check throroughly every area where you have lifted pads if there are no shorts and if everything is soldered properly.
-If you don't feel confident, send it our for repair before damaging anything else. (I learned it the hard way to be humble and get help. It cost me a chassis. You will learn more from getting a proper report from you repair guy.).

Solid advice. Ill have to try and find someone here in sweden that can take it on. :)
