So as I understand it, all you did was turn up the flyback to get rid of the whine and shutdown? My 29su is in the same situation as yours. Recapped psu, chassis came back from the shop with the whine/shutdown issue. I'll try disconnecting the H or V deflection lines and see if I get a change.

OK so big update *doh* had someone say "have you checked the brightness is turned up on the flyback?"

so here we are however it seems I have some dark edges... not sure whats up here
