I think MS9 schematic may be wrong?

I have a few of these various chassis for my games so that is how I am able to easily bounce to check parts and swap.

I have an auto sync Nanao MS9 with no sync. I believe something shorted to ground and wrecked it long time ago. Unfortunately no good manual/schematic. I Pull up the manual sync MS9 guide from sega touring. Follow through block diagram and troubleshooting guide:

Check q101, u101. No problem, Look up parts in manual and I change both and still nothing. No Sync wave on TP1 (Working ms9 will happily show sync wave here). I visually compare against a manual sync ms9 and notice differences at C108, C110, R121. OK no problem, maybe because it's manual sync. I pull another auto sync from one of my games. Match auto sync to auto sync so they should be the same. I swap with a working q101, u101 and nothing. Same issue.

While I'm testing I notice working q101 Tests as PNP transistor (FR-15). Strange parts list shows 2SC2412K

I check schematic shows NPN.

Check DATA sheet... shows NPN.

Something isn't adding up....

I Check Q201.... Manual says 2SA1037K...different part number

PNP this time,

MS9 schematic shows PNP correctly

tests as PNP.... exact same FR-15 transistor install on board.

Now
Check Q401, maual says same as Q101,

schematic shows NPN... Reads as NPN markings are different BQ-25.

I still need to track down why I don't have horz sync line, but I don't think I can follow scheamtic properly and I may need to trace down what other problem may have been cause with NPN transistor in Q101 position.

Am I dumb? Don't answer that... am I wrong? Both manual and auto sync show incorrect q101.

I was able to get it up and fixed. Thankfully I had a blown open r101 as well which save everything.

But yes, schematic is wrong I swapped in pnp S9015 @ Q101. Working normally now

Actually now that I look at schematic again R101 is wrong as well. Is 102 - 1kohm resistor.

Basically if anyone is looking at schematic for MS9 troubleshooting take it loosely at value. This one gave me unnecessary trouble trying to sort out this problem looking at wrong info.

Glad you got it back to running. Good stuff
