Hi there,
I want to know what is needed to use a compact flash reader on Naomi 1 , is the net dimboard needed ? Don't really want multi, but some game i wanted, so if i could write a few on flash ...
Thanks.
You need a GDROM DIMM or a NetDIMM (with SCSI port) in addition to the actual reader hardware.
These setups are a absolute PAIN to work with, I highly recommend spending the extra on a NetDIMM and Raspberry Pi 3 (running WiPi software available here).
The cheapest way of doing it is getting an old cheap DIMM with 1.02 and upgrade the BIOS yourself, but a cheap compact flash card reader and away you go. Do note if you don't have the necessary skill set/tools to complete the mod yourself, by the time you start adding everything up, you're not that much off a NetDIMM and Pi setup in terms of costs. You can configure that setup to load automatically and treat it like a CF setup.
That being said, as @jassin000 has mentioned, it's a VERY finicky especially with CF card compatibility. With that said, when it works, it works well if you just want a quick of loading games.
