Hi Folks,
I am the proud new owner of an Initial D ver 3 (Single Cab) from Japan. It is running Initial D ver 3 via the GDROM. I have added a multi bios as in the future I am hoping to netboot into some other Naomi Drivers.
The issue I have is the game plays fine. I can run multiple races, cards work, everything from what I can tell is good. However without fail once I reach a certain point when the game is in attract mode the entire system locks up and nothing works. No service or test button and the screen is frozen. Power cycling the entire cabinet fixes it until it reaches the same point in attract mode.
I have used two different DIMMS to rule that out and the issue occurs no matter which dimm board is in. So to me it seems like one of two issues. 1. The Naomi it's self has some sort of issue (Ram or something of the like) 2. Perhaps the multibios is causing this issue? (See the links below as these seem to pinpoint similar issues but not exactly).
Also Ram tests on both the Naomi and the Dimm boards come back as Good.
Does anyone know if using a multibios with a GDROM IDAS VER3 (Japan) will cause the entire system to lock up during attract mode? I haven't switched back to the original Japanese BIOS that came with the game yet. Is that worth trying? (It is currently set to Japan in the bios / the filter board is set for that as well). Overall it isn't a terrible issue as like I said I can get in hours of play with no problem, I just think about when I might have folks over or if I just want to have my home arcade in attract mode to make a bunch of noise and such
all my pinball games have the attract mode music on so it is interesting once everything gets going.
Thanks!

Very Similar issue that was fixed by Ken at irepair Sega by changing out Ram Chips on the mobo. I am very tempted to send my Naomi to him.
