I don't know if him want to pay my services plus shipment. Maybe a new netdimm will be better.

have you pulled the pic and tried to netboot without it?

yeh i've tried that, it still boots to a black screen.
- removed pic
- re-seated ram
- tried just the base board
all black screens..
I'm getting hold of another net dimm, I will try mixing and matching parts to see if I can narrow down the issue.
Else i will change the buffer and maybe reflash the smd firmware and see what happens.

Take the metal cover off (if it's not already) and with system on, cat5 cable plugged in, look at the led's near the rj45. There should be a green and a red(orange?) led on the first 2 near the rj45. If only the green is on, I would suspect a corrupt firmware. Follow Tyler's howto to reflash.

thanks @breakingcades, yeh this is the case. There is no orange/red led. Only one solid green and blinking green.
I need to sort get hold of the right adapters for the firmware chips and will give this a go!
