For so long I had wished that someone had made one of these that actually fitted. I thought how hard can it be? So here it is. It fits and the files are here for anyone else in need.

Does anyone know a closer filiment match?
eSun matte PLA in dark grey looks like a close match, has anyone had any experience with it?

Thanks guys, I was initially really happy with it and attached the .stl file. After looking at it a little I found a few things I wanted to fix. If you look closely at the pictures the front sits about 1mm too high and the clip could be a little tighter and have a little more support for durability. Fixed it and l have reposted a new improved version and new photos.

Happy to see this has been downloaded a few times. If anyone prints one, can they post a few pictures and provide some feedback.

The latch (clip.... whatever that bit is called) replicates the original fairly well, in that it is tight. I tried a few other positions and slight shape modifications but it was either too loose or so tight it snapped off when going in, that was the best I could get. There is a bit of support for it, but again too much made it too stiff. I figured these things don't go on and off much so it should be fine. The other area I an interested in is the top. On my printer the supports for the ridged top, print and come away easily. I think most printers should be able to handle this ok but if it's a problem it would be nice to know.

Still learning a lot about making 3d models in fusion, every bit of feedback helps.

I also don't really like the wavy lines in the ridge valleys on the top. They are support attachments but can't find away to print it without them. Again any advice appreciated. I only got into this 3d printing game about 18 months back as its been a rush of information.

Printed the file very nicely! Thanks again for sharing!
  • printed it flat down without supports, PLA, 0.20 (Original is in ABS) on a bambulab A1
    • Not sure why @Big_P Big_p needs support :) The gap between those top grid spaces is not large enough for needing support. Should print fine on every printer.
  • i have a minor burned plastic, this is due how it is printed (one of the lines did not stick perfectly), but that is an error on my side
  • Dont mind the dirty look of the red pla - My camera does not capture it correctly.
  • the fit is nearly 100% perfect. if placed there is a small gap (like 1mm?) on the right side
  • the 3 inner "spacer" could be like 0.25-0.5 mm smaller (it is a really tight fit)
  • the latch clip (whatever it is called :D) needs reinforcement. Broke right away on first opening - This is due PLA/print orientation. Either reinforce it and/or make it a bit more flexible/loose. Sits really tight (and i dislike how tight the original is)
  • As you can see i sampled the perfect color. It is a nearly perfect match :D *giggle*
  • Would be nice if you would publish to one of the major platforms (thingieverse, printables, makerworld).

Hey thanks heaps for that. It is exactly what I was looking for and it's going to help me to improve my fusion and printing skills. The supports is a funny one, initially I needed them for the clip overhang and I hate creality clippers way of painting where you don't want supports so it was easier to leave the on the bottom. I however changed the design to gradually step up to the overhang so I didn't need supports because I didn't like the wavy lines but I forgot I did that so I kept them. The clip tightness I was also a little unhappy with. The first one was way too loose and some of the tests after that I also broke. That one was the first I didn't and had been playing with 0.5mm for so long I decided it was ok, I'll try to get that a bit better I have a few ideas. Thanks again,

cool bananas. I have updated the attached file in the first post in this thread. I played around with the clip, its better but still a little stiff. I can definitely open it at least a few times once its on without breaking it, made the middle alignment peg a tiny bit thinner and I played around with the back of the cover to get the fit a little better. I ended up printing without supports but with a mouse ear brim as the bed contact is not great and the first one I printed lifted slightly in one corner. it still completed printing fine but I wondered if that had something to do with the 1mm misfit. it didn't and that issue is not really resolved as a result. i think i am happy enough with it now. enjoy and ill post it up on thingiverse or one of the other major platforms. I am happy that problem is now resolved and anyone with a broken/lost battery cover can get a replacement.

.

I was able to print this out successfully. Thanks for your work on this!
