I am looking to begin purchasing equipment to add netbooting and 6 button's per player to my current cabinet. I am checking here to make sure I do this properly.

I will start out using netbooting with a PC and eventually will add a Raspberry Pi.

Here is what I currently have:

- Naomi 1
- Zombie Revenge game cartridge
- Sega JVS 837-13551-91 I/O
- Sun Electronics Industry 400-5397 Power Supply

Here is what I think I need (want):

- NetDimm
- New Kick Harness to add 6 buttons per player
- Zero Key Chip

Does my I/O support 6 button kick harness for games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2? Will this work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/CPSII-III-C...246099?hash=item43eb0c13d3:g:2OoAAOSw3ydVndnQ

Will my current power supply setup support the netdimm?

I know I need to pay attention to my BIOS version. How can I tell what BIOS my unit currently has and what BIOS version do I need?

Anything else I need to think about?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not at all familiar with the 87-13351-91 I/O do you have a picture?

I can't say for sure without seeing it but AFAIK only the Capcom I/O supports the CPS2/3 style kick harness. Sega's JAMMA I/O all use NH connectors, which are completely different.

the 400-5397 will work great with any configuration of the NAOMI including a Net-DIMM setup.

As for the Bios you'll want to pick up a Rev H Multi-bios, this is the latest bios version, patched so that you can change regions by flipping the dipswitches on the filterboard (instead of having to swap bios chips for different regions). it should run everything but House of the Dead 2 (which requires a special bios and only works on very early NAOMI boards anyway).

in any case, you've got all the parts you'll need listed.

Sega JVS 87-13351-91 I/O - not sure which version you have but I have a Sega I/O 2 the rare and expensive one and JNX created me a costum kick harness. You have to get him the I/O ping out and he will make it for you.. My personal opinion, get rid of the Sega I/O and pick up a capcom I/O and a Capcom kick harness.. the capcom kick harness are more common and extremely easy to use and change system from CPS2/3 in the cab.

For Naomi I would personally use a JVS Type 1 I/O (Not JAMMA) and use my S-JIHP. The Capcom I/O is useful if your monitor doesn't accept a VGA signal though and you ONLY have a JAMMA cabinet. For controls you could buy my S-JIHP and easily make your own controls. Also it works with Rev. 1, 2, and 3 JVS I/Os so you can use it on a LOT of different systems.

Shoot us a picture of your I/O. That number is not coming up in google at all.

I mistyped the I/O model number. It is 837-13551-91. It looks exactly the sames as the 837-13551-92 seen here: http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/837-13551-92-i-o-control-board-for-jvs.59275/

I have attached a photo of mine, but the quality isn't the greatest as it is still nestled in my cabinet.

See post above. I mistyped the model number, sorry!

I'll check into the S-JIHP.

The monitor in my cabinet is VGA and I'd like to keep it like that.

Yeah that's the type 1 JVS I/O. If you add button to your cab you could just add the missing pins to the 60-pin connector to add the new buttons. That is if we can figure out the part number of the pins.

I recently built a JVS 60 pin and analog harness for my IR gun setup these are the part numbers:
JVS Analog connector is a 26 pin JST RA
PN: RA-2611

JVS Digital connector is a 60 pin JST RA
PN: RA-6011

JST RA Pins supports 26-22 Gage Wire
PN: RA-SC1290

You can order directly from JST but those pins are something stupid like $0.20 a piece unless you order in quantities over 8K

Does this look correct?

for the JVS I/O... no
for your cab... maybe?

The JVS I/O uses the JST RA style 60 pin connector, that in something like a net city will have a separate harness that connects the JVS I/O to a panel inside the control panel with different connectors. those connectors then go to the controls. The harness you linked to is for the control panel connectors to the buttons/sticks.. it does not connect directly to the JVS I/O

we don't know enough about your setup to determine if you'd need that part or not.

Thanks for all the information!

I have linked some more pictures of my setup to hopefully give some more insight on what wiring is needed.

I can't view your gallery right now since imgur is blocked by my work firewall but if you're looking for a pinout use this one:

Thx Twisted.

If you buy some of those pins you can just add the necessary wires to your existing I/O wiring harness. Buy some extra pins because you could potentially wire up a racing wheel to play some racing games in the future.

It's hard to tell from the pictures but is there another set of connectors between the I/O board and the control panel? if so you'll probably want to just get another control panel and wire to those connectors.

The analog sticks in those Zombie revenge panels are very hard to find, there are a few games that make use of the analog sticks so I'd highly recommend keeping that panel as-is and buying a 2nd 2L12B panel for 6-button fighters.

Thee extra wiring is not there. So I assume I will need to add that myself to the harness. Do you know of any place that sells the same type of connectors? I'd like to keep this as modular as possible, in case I want/need to swap things back to three buttons.

Didn't realize those sticks are hard to find, but that was my plan anyway.

I posted the part numbers you need earlier in this thread.

since the harness is likely tied into the coin box and service panel swapping out the 60 pin connector would be a bit of a pain in the ass. If this were my cab I'd buy 2-sets of the connectors used in Sega naomi panels like this: digital connectors: http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Sega_New_Net_City analog connectors: http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Sega_Analogue_Wire_Harness

then buy the RA pins you'll need to fill out the rest of the 60 pin connector on the I/O board then you'll be able to cut the current harness up near the panel and wire in the panel connectors and easily swap out panels without having to plug every wire into every button every time you swap. if you wire it right it would also mean your panels will plug in and work on Naomi/Net city candy cab and you'd be able to buy pre-wired panels and have them just plug in and work on your machine.

That's what I liked about the MIDWAY cabs from the 90's. All of the control panels had a disconnect so you could easily swap panels. Before I made my NFL Blitz cab I would swap the panel with the 49-way joysticks onto my MK2 cab to play. Every cab I rewire I do this with now.

yup, I do the same.
