My 2 cents: I've never used (or owned) a GD-ROM unit with the Naomi, but I do have two working NetDIMMs with 4.01. I've found out the hard way that you need to upgrade them first to 3.17 before going to 4.01 (read about the saga here). My NetDimm came with version 2.x, I programmed a new BIOS chip with 4.01 directly and it didn't work. I had to program it with 3.17, then upgraded it to 4.01 via WiPiNetbooter.
