So my Naomi w/CF mod works great, but if I don't use it for a few days it throws an error "22" and I have to swap out the CF card for a different game for it to recover. I'm thinking it's the backup battery in the net dimm board gone bad, anyone have any other ideas? I mean the battery isn't required, so I can just unplug it.

Try pulling the battery and see if you can reproduce the problem. I've never seen this happen before.
I am, but as it takes several days for the issue to show up... I wanna play dang it!

Edit: Pulled the battery, and it shows no charge. So I suspect something else is going on. Could be the coin cell on the motherboard? Not sure at this point.

Maybe the connection between the CF and DIMM is a bit flaky? Next time it happens, try just reseating the DIMM and CF card. Don't put a new game in, just use the same one.

Been down that route. When it's happened in the past I've tried reseating the DIMM board to no effect. Only thing that seems to work is loading a different game.

So, I think the way to approach this is to run without the battery and see if it happens again. Thanks all for the input.

I wish I could have been more help. These DIMM boards aren't the most reliable.
No worries. I also keep plugging and unplugging mine as I don't yet have it permanently installed, which I doubt helps. Other than this one issue, it's been running like a champ.

I had a very similar problem 1 year ago with a Dimm to convert to CF, it turned out that the battery was with problems, when restarting the console once the game was loaded in ram, the battery did not have enough power to keep the files in the ram which ended up erasing after the restart, I recommend you change the internal battery of the dimm. here is a photo I took from the internet that shows what the battery replacement looks like. Unfortunately, in my country we can no longer import batteries and it took a lot to replace them.

I hope it helps you, greetings

Thanks. I don't really mind having to reload the game into the DIMMs for now. So far no issues with the battery removed. I do have two failed battery packs now that I can look into rebuilding at some point down the road. Good quality CGR18650 are hard to find right now, so it'll be a project for a later day.

Update: Everything has been running fine without the battery, but today I tried to change games only to get an "error 26". I'm thinking that the problem has been two fold, one the battery and two the compact flash cards I've been using. Been using Kingston branded ones with the white flower on the label. They seem a little flaky. I reflashed the game (Dolphin Blue) to a Sandisk 256MB and it came right up.

Edit: May also have something to do with the Atomiswave ports? Not sure...
