So there's lot of "mostly correct" info about the JAMMA pinout online and pretty much 0 info about the other aspects. More than a decade ago there were actually some official resources online but they've all since disappeared. Now random homemade JAMMA pinout images are great for most things, but me being me I want to know the details and the minor nuances and most of those aren't captured or are wrong on the information readily available online.
A few years back I actually went hunting archive.org trying to find some of those official resources I had previously found.
@rtw was actually able to find the spec as published in Japan on January of 1986 (page 9)
https://archive.org/details/game-machine-magazine-19860101p/page/n8/mode/1up
So now we have the official spec which includes not just the pin out but also dimensions of the Edge connector and PCB sizing and audio and video characteristics!
Now the biggest issue here is that this is a scan. They weren't exactly publishing things electronically in 1986. So it's not just a matter of dumping the text into google translate it would need to be transcribed or OCRed. I've made some attempts at OCR that were not super successful.
Now I've hand transcribed the text in the JAMMA pinout and translated that. So now you all have the real official JAMMA pinout
I know some of you can type and read Japanese so I'd like to see if we can put together a fully translated version of this document so that the community can benefit from this knowledge going forward.
