The person who sold it to me had hesitated to tell me that it was very rare that it was a prototype (he finally sold me all his pcb stock including this kit)

Personally I doubt it

What snk made in a small series

Seems to me more reasonable

I saw one once in kit like the one for sale on yahoo

And a 10 times just the link pcb with wiring and slot for sale on yahoo
 
Is bios an issue if the Neo SD is able to force change game region?

No idea - it seems to be less of a region issue, and more that only some motherboards supported it. I'll have to re-check unibios, but I only got the adapter detected when I used the correct bios.

The hardware for that should exist on all MVS, but the outputs are not always connected.
 
It certainly has been a while. Sigh. At the moment I have mostly the weekend, and a ton of other things to take care off. I'll need to check my notes and include a new revision in my next JLCPCB order.
 
Ok, this is the new revision I'm going to order. Updated for KiCad 10, and I replaced those DIP resistor arrays with plain resistors. I didn't want to redo the whole layout, so the footprints are a bit short - but these things will most likely disappear in a cabinet where nobody is going to complain that they looks a bit ugly...
(All those resistors and capacitors replace those CR401 custom components, btw.)

I guess if anyone wanted to sell these, turning this into an SMD version that can be pick+placed shouldn't be hard.

Assumed this is an alternate option that connects to MVS motherboards with controller ports and allows for 4 x DB15 sticks to play? Likewise with AES.

Hey everyone :) I'll chime in soon with more details on the FSNG-4P. In the meantime, everyone please post any questions/feedback you might have here and I'll make sure to cover them in my coming post(s). @djsheep is also helping with testing and documenting usage of these now 🙏, which is amazing as there are more bases to cover than one would think. More on all of this soon!
 
I have the prototype of the FSNG-4P here, and it's a fantastic device... am using the Darksoft Multi to load all the 4-player games for testing and it's going real smooth on both on MVS and AES. And as a bonus, it works on PC too!

Hopefully more homebrew comes out in the future that supports 4-player now a readily available device will be out there.

I promised you all an update on this, so here we go with a first little demo :) I'll record a demo showing how it's working with some games on the Neo Geo AES next!
