I recently put an NVS-4000 in my New Astro City. One of the common and confusing issues I've found is that it's somewhat unclear how to handle switching audio between mono and stereo, and if you have both hooked up at once, you can blow something in the amp.

I decided the best approach would be to just wire it like Sega did the 001 loom in a Blast city. This properly wires mono audio so the volume knob still works and ensures you can only plug one thing in at a time. It also requires the least amount of work cutting or removing or replacing anything. I just cut some things and added connectors, no new harnesses required.

I cut about a foot off the end of the stereo RCA cables and wired them to a male 6 pin amp up connector. I then cut the mono audio wires coming from the JAMMA harness about 6-8" away from the edge connector and wired those to another 6 pin amp up connector. Then I just put the other end of all those (the power supply/amp side) into a single female 6 pin amp up connector.

The pinout I used is the same as the 001 loom's:
Code:
R- R+ M+
L- L+ M-

To switch between JAMMA mono and stereo, just switch which is plugged in. There's no way to accidentally plug in both.

The 4 pin speaker connector under the control panel that normally plugs into the original New Astro psu harness just plugs right into the 4 pin Speaker Out on the NVS-4000. The original 4 pin female connector remains unplugged.

Here's the 001 loom for reference:

@notsonic I'm about to get one made from a harness maker in Japan, are you able to draw a simple diagram out to clarify things? Thank you.

It's his first time making a harness for the NVS-4000. This is his shop: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/seller/3VZeRi56KGeRJYhvBmsTfd4tStZSX

Your post was straightforward to read but we just wanted to confirm some things before making the harness since he doesn't have the actual PSU to test.

A simple diagram of between the JAMMA mono audio/stereo source > Sound In > Sound Out would be great. I would appreciate it!
