New NEO-GEO Aes will be released ?

Their choice to use ASICs instead of an FPGA is a little concerning since the system cant be updated if a bug is found in one of the implementations. But thanks to Furrtek, and the work of the community the system is very well documented so even if SNK wasn't able to provide internal documentation this could still turn out to be a true 1:1 recreation.

Anyone in the US able to preorder one? It gives me a "The product in your cart is not available for delivery to your location." error when trying to checkout.

Did WA state succeed from the union without me knowing? ;)
I preorded one, with two wireless joysticks, a memory card, and Pulstar as soon as it was announced.

i ordered one as well from the website directly. You should be able to order from amazon soon too

I've tried a few random residential addresses in WA state and it's a no-go. Oh well, guess I'll wait for Amazon or for Plaion to fix their website.

Really excited for this! Also nice to be able to own AES carts without shelling out ridiculous prices, just hope its as accurate as they're saying it is! Tempted to pre-order the set with all the games

So, uh, this gives me a LOT more confidence that this will be good.

What games would you guys recommend to get based on the list that they release? (Limit it to 3 please for budgetary reasons lol)
Twinkle Star Sprites - Versus Shmup which is a very unique genre combination. You (and your opponent) destroy Galaga-like formations which sends fireballs to your opponent’s screen and helps build meter. You both have to dodge fireballs, planned projectiles (you use meter to send direct attacks) while keeping up with clearing formations. There’s twelve characters and each have their own indepth mechanics, gimmicks/nuances and special attacks you can send on command provided you have meter to dent the opponent’s HP stock. The game has a lot of replay value via. solo or multiplayer and each round can be ridiculously chaotic the longer it goes on.

Garou - This game is supposed to be a re-haul of the Fatal Fury series similar to what Street Fighter 3 was doing. There’s mostly a new cast of characters and mechanics like the TOP system where you put a bar at the beginning, middle or end of your life gauge as a comeback. There’s Just Defends where you hit back before an opponent connects an attack; it’s the parry system in this game but safer if you mess up the timing you’re blocking anyways. Game feels pretty good to play overall, probably my favorite SNK fighter.

Pulstar - Pretty much R-Type 1/2 if you ever liked those games. I think this is a pretty great Shmup.

I'm very surprised. Thought it would be another laggy emulation attempt. If the stick has the same feel --> short throw and exact same shaft length, they have my deepest respect.

One thing I like the most is overclocking.

Secondly they didn't give video output details beyond analog and HDMI. What analog output formats? What resolutions will HDMI support? Will there be a direct-out option on the HDMI for use with scalers? What about scanline filters?
The TimeExtension article mentions 1080p low latency output:
https://www.timeextension.com/news/...ms-to-be-a-11-replica-of-snks-classic-console

Then it's my personal optinion: Don't expect much more. I guess 720p/1080p out, RGB out (apparently same pinout as original Neo Geo), probably scanlines and not much more.

Sounds great but my biggest concerns are:

- Embracer and modern SNK = Worst possible company combination?
- Trailer looks horrible cheap
- AV out? I mean come on, even my mom knows by know that we need RGB
- Website / shop look cheap and have a few issues, also the game descriptions...

Only bought a single game to see the quality.
The x68000z did teach me a valuable lesson :P

I cracked and pre order black version, multi Darksoft MVS and Furtick adaptor. I hope don't made a mistake.

Old game carts work on the new model, but what about the other way around?
Any info about this?

the games are really interesting, really well chosen, and really well priced.

Shock Troopers never got an official AES release, with the branching paths, multiple characters and star system it’s a much deeper and more console friendly game than ST2

Pulstar is an awesome console style shmup, much more chill than blazing”bonus”star. Not sure about the replay value on this one so much.

MS1 is so insanely expensive that this is the only way I’ll ever be able to own an official AES (re)release. I’ll take it!

Neo Turf Masters is still one of the best golf games on any platform, ever. A version with no load times, both Australia AND Scotland would be the ultimate and never seen before

MOTW isn’t really my cup of tea, but still one of the most beautiful 2D fighters ever made (maybe just behind SF3) we will never see this quality of 2D spritework or animation again.

ALL of the release games are awesome in their own way - truly “All Kilker - No Filler”. It’s a very promising start!

Due to the "too good to be true" element I have 'just' ordered Neo Turf Masters. Note it apparently includes the Scotland course, previously unique to the NGCD version. Can't wait to try it on my OG AES!
