New NEO-GEO Aes will be released ?

90 dollars is more than a lot of triple a titles nowadays, for games that would probably be recoeved as dated by your average consumer
AAA games today you pay $60 for demat. Here you get a big shockbox, a big cartridge and the manual.
As for the games being outdated, of course they are, but again you're paying for a big physical product.
You could also weigh the price against the size of the ROMs, which by today's standard would be extremely expensive. But not outrageously expensive when Nintendo keeps selling and reselling Mario Bros (40KB total) for $5 on digital platforms.

I have plenty of gripes about the games of today, I just think that people like us look at this with an entirely different lens than the average consumer of today, which is a small slice of the pie in terms of making this make sense on ROI. But as others have said maybe saudi money will float it along.

We should maybe make a new topic for this, but what would you choose for the next set of 10 games? I would like some that were only on MVS, like Bomberman and Super Dodgeball. But there are a lot of good AES games to choose from. Maybe one of the Last Blades, Blazing Star, Windjammers, …

I don’t like the bean joystick, but do use the OG because of the size and lightness. The buttons suck though. The controller? Not a fan. I prefer the SNES pad.
I guess I mean the stick. The buttons look like they’re laid out at a weird angle. It feels ok to play still?

I’m in for an Ultimate edition, and a standard edition + memory card from before I went crazy and ordered the ultimate.

The fact that the carts & accessories are backward compatible gives me a bit of reassurance it will be a decent product. If it was that easy to cut corners with a 1 chip on the carts you would be seeing them on Ali - all I see is conversions / bootlegs…. & adapted chips on the 161-in-1 etc… is any other way possible?

Someone pointed out in the promo video the cart only has 1 board, but it could just be rendering or bad camera angle.

WELCOME5 still works for anyone in Europe

White or black ??? I can't decide I've never owned a AES so I'm leaning black. But the white looks clean and a nice bundle deal.

White might not look so clean in 20 years time (see what Dreamcast's look like nowadays), but that's far into the future. There's also ways to remove yellowing from plastic, but just something to consider.

I'm very new to this hobby and and still lack knowledge and apologise for my ignorance but if you already have a consolised (or open mvs) MVS system running unibios 4.0 and the only reason to buy this console is to play AES games, then what is the point of buying it and spending all this money as you can just switch to AES mode (on your consolised or open mvs system) to play arcade perfect aes versions which will surely be more 1:1 than this console? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Absolutely no reason whatsoever. But when did that stop anybody?

Some people might literally just want the HDMI output, working memory cards, wireless controllers, a copy of Metal Slug AES that hasn't been hewn from the finest unobtanium. Or they might just have some cash burning a hole in their pocket.

All I know is I'm now going to see everyone's hot take about it on social media between now and November. I clicked one link on FB and now it's all I'm seeing

Multiple MVS Games in the Launch lineup are more expensive than the rerelease Console + Cart, for the price of some games you could even get the Big Bundle with all 10 games. A MVS Garou cart costs slightly more than the rerelease console + Garou rerelease, Twinkle Star Sprites for MVS would get you the Big Bundle. (Not sure where exactly Pulstar and Samsho fall regarding price)

I have a hard time seeing this really sell volume. I understand as collectors most of us here are use to expensive aes prices, but 90 dollars is more than a lot of triple a titles nowadays, for games that would probably be recoeved as dated by your average consumer. Not trying to hate, I just think its wise to act with swiftness if you want it.
I agree this is a longshot on high-volume, but I really don't think that the price is the problem for anyone reasonably considering this. $90 is more than a AAA game, but there is a ~$90 digital deluxe edition or a physical collector's edition for even more money for almost all AAA titles these days, and that's before you consider companies like LRG that sell tons of $100+ collectors' editions (though in that case they collect orders before they start manufacturing).

If there's a limiting factor here, I think it's audience more than price.

What's with all this reasonable logic?

Don't under-estimate how much people will pay for HDMI and Bluetooth support for their retro consoles.

Companies like PixelFX sell Retro GEM HDMI kits for $190USD + shipping for retro consoles (N64, PS1, PS2, etc) Then spend almost that much to get it installed (if you can't do it yourself) and another $50+ for bluetooth adapter and we're in the same price range of just buying the console with all that stuff in there.

Now if you already have an HDMI, Bluetooth modded CMVS, then the benefit for you is not there.

Here's more proof: https://videogameperfection.com/products/neogeo-digital/

290 Euro to upgrade your AES to HDMI. The Neo Geo AES+ is 190 Euro.

$90 seems very reasonable for anything compatible with a Neo Geo cartridge slot. One of the reasons many of us are so surprised by the AES+ announcement is we assumed it wasn't practical to sell anything with a Neo Geo size cartridge slots or cartridges.

I’m amazed at how many people are going to buy the console. Some of my friends are going to get a console and a few games, even though they weren’t even born in 1990. They wouldn’t have bought the original console, as you’d still need an upscaler and the games cost quite a bit these days.
I’ve ordered the full bundle myself, even though I already have about 90 AES games. I’m hoping, of course, that the multicarts will work on the NeoGeo+. I’m curious to see how well they’ll capture the feel of the old stick...
Hopefully the lag via HDMI won’t be too bad.
