It was a very difficult challenge, but we did it!

We knew that the Qsound chips are basically WE DSP16A chips with code inside. Qsound chips are very hard to get but other WE DSP16A are not so difficult, but they are OTP programmed in factory and you can't reprogram them, so we needed to find a way to force them to execute external code. After giving up 2 years ago, we took a new approach 2 months ago and we managed to get them playing Qsound or any other code!

so after a lot of work, we were able to make these:

The Flash memory with Qsound or whatever code you want to run there is in a socket so can be easily programmed with most Eprom programmers or via a microSD file in your CPS1 as you do with the FPGA sound modules.

The result is that now everyone can have the original chip instead of the FPGA version. We don't have unlimited resources of these chips, so about 20-30 units of CPS1 Multi with this chip are going to be available right away from the usual distributors. Be sure to place the order before they run out.

If you bought a multi that came with FPGA and you would like to buy this module, you can PM me. Price is 90 USD + 10 USD shipping.

amazing the tinkering you do behind the scenes. I was only reading the recent MAME "whatsnew.txt" and you (and hammy) are listed as a contributor over and over for providing new rom dumps.
