I just got a NNC with a PD-1843 that was functioning before shipping - geometry and color looked surprisingly good to my eye. Upon arriving, the screen didn't work with only sync clicks occurring and nothing on screen with or without screen adjustment. Had a slight neck glow so it didn't appear to be completely broken.

I pulled the board and found a coil (inducer?) in the PSU area located at L401 had the lower wire disconnected (the one up inside the bottom). The (awesome) seller was nice enough to send another coil from a parts board they had which brought it back to life.

I noticed the following issues:
- White "haze" over everything from the input, appeared as if the brightness was incredibly high
- Black colors were red or maroonish
- Geometry, size, and position were way off
- Contrast on regular and extended menu had a range of 92-100 in the OSD with no ability to adjust higher or lower (and no change to display when continuing to raise or lower without the numbers changing)

If I were to reset the settings, it resulted in the above issues returning, no matter what changes I made; indicating the defaults are either terrible or something else is wrong.

I did a ton of adjustment to get the picture to a readable state using the regular and extended menu adjustments and screen. All in all, I had to:
- Adjust the contrast all the way up (see other issue below)
- Adjust the brightness to 50%
- Fix the geometry a little
- Resize and reposition the screen
- Adjust the colors heavily
- Adjust the screen

The screen is still dark and colors aren't right, but I can read it enough to poke about. This occurs for a NAOMI 2, MiSTer, old computer with VGA, and Dreamcast using 3 different VGA cables.

Throughout all the corrections after the coil was replaced, the OSD (menu, extended menu, and "No Signal" screen) appears to be just fine.

So now I'm at a point which is beyond my knowledge or abilities. Myself and the seller agree it is likely that the EEPROM may be really messed up with the defaults being corrupt as well. If this may be the EEPROM, I've seen hints on resetting the EEPROM which stores the memory on consumer TV and monitors so that's a thought, but I'm not looking to short out and kill it unless someone knows exactly how to do this.

Before I send it to the seller or Sharp Image to work on it - as a last resort - does anyone have any insight or further things I can try to fix this?
