I’ve been getting really into playing Progear but recently I’ve notice something odd.

When I set the game to free play and put it in my Blast or Astro, there is a demo mode that plays. But for some reason when I plug it into the Super Neo, the game holds on the title screen until I press start.

Does anyone know why this is? Is there a way to make the demo play on free play so I don’t risk burn in?

I'd look for a stuck input on your Super Neo.
Thank you. According to the test menu, it's the player 2 start button. Even if I unplug the switch, it stays activated.

Could it be because I have is a Jamma board in a Neo Geo cab? How do I check if my wiring is MVS or Jamma? I do have a multimeter.

The differences between JAMMA and MVS are minor (service button and stereo audio), rest is identical including start buttons.
Start at the JAMMA connector, if you can pull the pin for P2 start. There's a short to ground somewhere, could be the way the button is connected or the ground loop in the panel.

Use an mvs>jamma interface

Would be wiser

It allows you to juggle from one configuration to another without changing the cab
